In harnessing this product the kelp is chosen according to its color and texture while still in the
ocean. When it is "ready", just like good wine, it is gently pulled out of the ocean and laid to dry
naturally on the ground. There it is exposed to all kinds of clean weather, which is what Iceland is famous for and it takes in the elements to make it even more potent. Then it is taken into the Shamans layer where it is further dried in a natural way to then be cold pressed into pills for consumption.

Gullsteinn sf was formed formally in the year 2008 but production started much earlier. To begin with the housing was a lump fish factory and Gullsteinn was the name of the ship. Soon production of kelp tablets started. Around 2006 production of fillet snacks started in partnership with the Fisksöluskrifstofan.
Gullsteinn sf is at Reykhólar by Breiðafjörð bay. Breiðafjörður bay is the largest protected area in Iceland and is known for its unique natural beauty and pureness. The kelp we use is only from Breiðafjörður bay but there is high amount of seaweed that grows there. The quality of the kelp is good becouse the ocean is unspoiled and pure. The ocean is clear and therefore the kelp grows well and fast.
